PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR TEEN MOOD STUDY!

PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR TEEN MOOD STUDY!

This is a study through the Stanford Neurodevelopment, Affect, and Psychopathology Lab. We are looking at how mood affects the brain and body. More specifically, we are looking at patterns between biomarkers (like markers of stress/inflammation in the brain and blood such as cortisol, cytokines and brain functioning) and depressive symptoms in adolescents. In this study we are doing that through an fMRI brain scan and a small finger blood prick sample.

Your teen might be eligible to participate in one of our studies if he or she meets the following criteria:

  • You must have a male child who has recently been experiencing sad moods, irritability or has had a lack of interest in their activities
  • OR you must have a child (either male or female) with neither personal nor familial psychiatric history
  • Your child must be between the ages of 13-17 years old
  • You must be a US citizen or non-citizen with a Green Card
  • You must read and speak English fluently
  • You should have no immediate plans to leave the Bay Area

If your child is eligible to participate, you and your child may earn $20 for each hour that you participate in our research at Stanford University. He/she will also have the opportunity to visit Stanford University and participate in interviews, complete questionnaires, do some computer activities, and have scans taken of his/her brain. Participants will receive a picture of their brain as a souvenir!

Your participation in all study related activities, including requests for information, will be kept strictly confidential.
