Joelle LeMoult

Joelle is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British
Columbia and director of the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Lab. Joelle received her PhD in
Clinical Psychology from the University of Miami in 2012 with the support of an NIMH F31
Fellowship and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Stanford Neurodevelopment, Affect, and
Psychopathology (SNAP) Laboratory from 2013-2016 through the support of an NIMH F32
Fellowship and NARSAD Young Investigator Grant. The overarching goal of her research is to
further our understanding of the onset, maintenance, and recurrence of Major Depressive
Disorder (MDD). Using a multimodal approach, she examines the cognitive, emotional, and
biological responses to environmental stressors that contribute to symptoms of depression and
anxiety. Joelle continues to collaborate with the SNAP Lab on projects examining the
intergenerational transmission of risk for depression and psychobiological mechanisms
underlying current depressive episodes.
